• Top Ten Things to do in Strathyre

    In a forest setting, one can often get bored easily not knowing what to do. So, here are a few things you can do in Strathyre alone or with family and friends.

    • Explore the forest– You can grab one of those trail maps and explore the forest by yourself, hiking through the woodlands or you could get a few people with whom you can hike with. You can also find yourself a travel guide to follow.
    • Explore Loch Lubnaig– You can sit by the loch or skim stones. It a beautiful place to just play with the water and while away one’s time. It’s a nice place for the kids to spend some time too.
    • Feed some Pine Martens– If you leave some peanuts on a stick they will come feed on it. They generally immediately they can see or smell some peanuts around. It’s a wonderful experience to feed them and see them munching on those peanuts.
    • Fishing– There is an abundance of water bodies and thus one must go fishing in Strathyre. Bring along your equipment and spend some time fishing and maybe you might just get some really good catch. It’s a perfect opportunity to teach the kids how to fish as well.
    • Build a fire– Build a fire and spend some time around the fireplace. You could roast marshmallows and read books around the fire or maybe even sing songs together as a family if you like! Playing board games around the fire is also another commonly practiced pastime.

    • Night stroll– Walking through the forest at night is another most exciting thing to do. Its advised to do with a group of people but if you like you go alone and experience the twilight moon as well.
    • Spa time– You can also take some time out to go for a spa treatment. If you are with family then it is a good time apart from the kids. Strathyre generally has natural spas which are far more relaxing and an inviting experience.

     

    • Archery– I think this is one of the most fun things to try out. It helps you practice your aim and even learn something new. Bows and arrows are easily available and can be bought at a cheaper price for many.
    • Go ape in Aberfoyle– Go apes run the longest zip line and ropes course in Scotland. It should be about half an hour’s drive. There are nice lodges to stay and have lunch there as well.
    • Take in the view at Duke’s pass– if you go to ape you must take in the view at Duke’s pass which is on the way. It is one of the most beautiful scenic views in Strathyre. So don’t forget that!
